Description: - A Victorian diamond crescent and star brooch. The crescent displays 13 old cut and rose cut diamonds graduating in size, with an additional diamond in a star setting at the center. The brooch is also set at either end with an old cut diamond in a star setting.
As was common for the period, the brooch is unhallmarked, and has been tested to be silver fronted, and backed in 9ct gold.
- Period: - Late 19th Century.
- Date: - Circa 1890s.
- Measurement: - 4.4cm (end to end) x 1.7cm (height) x 1.0cm (depth). The total diamond weight is approximately 0.80 carat.
- Weight: - 4.9 grams.
Condition: - Light surface scratches and tarnishing commensurate with age. The diamonds are in good overall condition, with a few displaying surface-reaching feathers, minor nicks, and chips to the facet edges under x10 magnification. The pin and later roll-pin clasp work as expected. Gemstone treatment is unknown. Please see photos for confirmation of condition.
